Missing My Friends.

For some reasons, I'm missing my friends back home badly. Sigh.

Agility Clip

Mommy Shirz has no time to post as she's still obsessed with 'Lost' (I saw her finish episide 20 last night and I think she only has 4 more to go to complete season 1, and now, she's started on 'Taken'. Someone's got to do something about that addiction! Woof!

Anyway, as promised, here's a short clip of my 'agility test' (604 KB). Of course, I passed it with style (otherwise I wouldn't be showing it here).

Will be putting up another clip at a later date. Still trying out several video hosting sites to see which one is the best (I've submitted one to google but they haven't approved it). Yeah, I'm a tech dog alright. ;)

Photoblog

This is turning into a photoblog but hey, a picture is worth a thousand words, no? :P

3rd day in a row at Parkers Reserve.
One way to hide the ugly hotspot is by covering it.
I must say Daddy Joe did it quite well. :)

The other way is to turn it away from the lens. ;)

ps: next update - video of my agility test! Woof!

Hotspot

No idea how I got this 'hotspot' but the vet was darn sure it's "self-inflicted" (talk about evidence-based diagnosis!). He shaved the affected area clean and gave me an injection to stop the itch. I was all zonked out the rest of that day and was confined indoors for 4 long days (because I couldn't wear the collar). *Sobs*

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I advise you do this as a last resort.

Finally, the begging paid off!
This is Parkers Reserve (the size of 4 football fields?).
I ran till my paws buckled under me. :)

Lost

Thanks to Atari for getting me lost in 'Lost' (the dramatic version of 'Cast Away' plus all the twists) ... I'm beyond hooked (just finished episode 18), and I'm trying to get my hands on 19. I'm a goner!

In other news, happy birthday wild boar ... :P

Amazing News

Ha! Just when I thought I'd kicked Joe outta the page, he "retaliated" with a new entry! Maybe he felt "invaded" and decided to post. :P Anyway, just to add on to the pieces of amazing news he shared, here's an excerpt of one I came across (almost as inventive as the royal wedding ;)).
A Russian man born with genitals so small that he was unable to have sex has been given the chance to lead a normal love life after a new penis was "grown'' on his arm during pioneering surgery.
In an 11-hour operation, plastic surgeons in Moscow removed the 28-year-old's undersized penis and stitched it on to his left forearm, where they grafted on additional flesh and tissue taken from his inner arm. The newly enlarged organ, which had grown from less than 2ins to nearly 7ins, was then reattached to his groin.
His surgeon, Professor Mikhail Sokolshchik, of the National Medical Surgical Centre, hopes that the patient will eventually be able to have sexual relations and father children.
And apparently,
it is thought that up to one in 200 men are born with "micropenises'' - the medical term for male genitalia that are less than two inches long when aroused.

Wow.

Night Market @ Melb Uni.

Night Market @ Melb Uni.

That's Chris contemplating whether she should swap her
Burberrys bag with the homebrand one! ;)

The stalls were all up before sunset. Can you spot the guy bbq-ing satays?

IndoHut - the stall that served the best satays. :) *yum*

My camera phone sucks.

From left to right: Yenni, Chris, Sok Ling and Aik Wei.

Sequence as above except Yenni's taking the pic this time.
So that's me in Yenni's place! :)

Evicted

The landlord has put up the place for sale, which means, we may have to get our butt out within the next 2-3 months (depending on how fast he sells it). Kinda sick to hear the news because I've grown so comfy here and the thought of moving house just makes me wanna throw up (figuratively, of course). Plus hunting for a new place that'll take Ginger is a tough one (especially since so many home owners are averse to pet-keeping tenants). Well, will see how it goes. The property guy suggests we might not have to move if the new landlord is buying the house for investment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

On other news, PR application finally acknowledged by the immigration dept. Hopefully, we'll get our visas before our current ones expire in June!

Tried sending this picture via the hand-me-down camera phone (thanks bro!) to my moblog but it failed. Managed to post it through email which kinda defeats the purpose of having a moblog but hey, it's free and it allows hotlinking to your own images. Unlike Hello which restricts photohosting to blogspot users per se, this helps to free up some space on Atari's server (much to his delight!). ;)

Yup, that's me in the blue denim jacket (2nd from the left) with my eyes closed (thanks Jean!). Sigh. Feeling nostalgic now. Grecko, anyone ? This Fri/Sat ?

Fall

A massive bruise (or contusion as Atari calls it) on my thundering thigh as a result of a weighty fall along the river bank. Who'd believe I actually lost consciousness for like 3 secs ? Atari says it's due to shock. *shrugs*

Anyway, it's a lot better now. I can walk but can't sit for too long (because I get this sudden, sharp pain when I get up) which is good because I tend to plant my lard arse down in front of the computer for way too long so, having to jiggle that fats larder once in a while may help to lose some of its contents (hopefully!).

Ok, back to books ! Ciao !

Beer

What do you bring when you go to a lecture? Notebook? Pencil case?
How about some beer?

The dude beside opened up a can (very discreetly) just before the lecture started.
His drinking partner next to him followed suit. I thought,"Ah, must be stress. A little beer is forgivable." Within 5 mins, they finished their drinks and I heard another 'pop'. Oh, ok. One more. No biggie. Uni life is not easy, I understand. They gulped down their seconds and I pretended I didn't care. I mean, give these poor fellas a break, right? It's only a couple of beers.

But then, I heard another.

And another.

After a while, I lost count and that's when the boys had to go to the loo, and that's when I realised there was a freaking carton of beer between their legs on the floor!

Now, that's what I call reel stuff.

Mamma Mia

It's very difficult for me, a 'Les Mis' aficionado, to give a fair review of every other musical I watched, because nothing compared to my all-time fav, even after so many years (12 to be exact?). And it's hardly surprising. Great story, potent vocals, gripping lyrics, stunning props, flawless everything. Yes, I'm biased, so much so that I thought Silvie Paladino who played Donna in the Melbourne cast was good, simply because she used to play 'Eponine' in Les Mis. The rest of the cast, somehow, paled in comparison because, why, they aren't/weren't in Les Mis! Still, when friends asked what I thought of Mamma Mia, I had to say something. Don't get me wrong. It's good, really. Except for the plot (or lack thereof), it was highly entertaining, funny, and Abba's songs (though I'm not a fan) automatically set your body in motion. Tap, tap, tap ... sway, sway, sway. And even though Sophie's (I think her name's Kellie Rode) voice could be more powerful, the props were amazingly versatile and the sound quality, superb. Of course, the cheap tic helped too. So, no reason to complain. None at all. :)

My Mistress Fell

It's bad to sit in front of the computer all day, you know. I recommend you do a bit of skinny dipping, once in a while, to improve blood circulation. There should be more pictures but my klutzy mistress slipped and fell along the river bank and had to be escorted home before I could properly get a nice, even fur tone. Ah well. I guess I'd just have to hit the solarium more often. ;)

Pope

Someone you've never met, whose real name sounds unfamiliar, and who isn't mired in controversy. Yet millions around the world are tearfully praying for the pope.

It's amazing how much he has touched people, and made an impact, at many times without a direct influence.

Which leads me to ask two questions. Firstly, are they mourning him because he's the pope ? or because of the way who he was ?

and Secondly, how many other people could be in a position to have such an extensive influence over the world ?

From the Guardian : "In France, where Jews and Muslims said prayers, Dalil Boubakeur, president of the French Council of the Muslim Faith, said: "For us Muslims, he is a man of God, a man who wanted to serve God by serving humanity."

As his final breaths pass, I wonder what he's thinking. According to his private secretary, he asked his aides not to weep for him.

"I am happy, and you should be as well,", "Let us pray together with joy."

I think the way he's dealing with his demise speaks volumes about what sort of person he was.

I'm not going to try addressing the second question, but it is worth thinking about how we influence the circles around us, as small or as large as they are...

-----

As a practical matter, the talk around his successor has already begun.
